Hosna Pourhashemi is an Iranian landscape architect, painter and university lecturer. She studied Landscape Architecture in Tehran, Vienna and Zurich. She received a BA of Environmental Engineering from the University of Tehran, and a BA and an MA of Landscape Architecture from the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, Austria. Currently, she is affiliated with the Institute of Landscape Architecture at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), where she is writing her PhD. Her research examines the representation of the Persian garden on the contemporary architecture in Iran. Hosna’s professional experience includes, among others, working at Vogt Landscape Architects in Munich, Germany and Zurich, Switzerland. She has worked on several important international and national projects such as Museum of World Culture and European Central Bank in Frankfurt, European Harbor in Bremen and Danube Channel in Vienna. She has also organized and operated many professional tours for European Architects, Landscape Architects and City Planners in Iran. Prior to moving to Europe, she gained also a number of years’ experience by working at some high profile design firms in Iran. Since 2013, she founded and directs XO-Studio, a Tehran and Vienna based landscape architecture studio. Since 2016, she has been teaching the theoretical and design courses in Master of Landscape Architecture at Islamic Azad University of Tehran.
